Dale Templar

Managing Director

Dale started up One Tribe TV back in 2011, after leaving the BBC after 22 years. Whilst she is Managing Director of the multi-award winning company, Dale continues to be very active in development and has been in the forefront of successfully re-positioning the company during the significant shifts in funding and commissioning during the last 5 years. One Tribe now has two large offices in Bath and Chepstow and prides itself on being a truly independent production company - making it nimble and able to re-act to change quickly. With a remarkably talented core team, One Tribe makes a wide range of factual productions for both UK and international broadcasters, fast channels, streamers and distributors, with storytelling remaining at the heart of everything we do.

As well as managing long established partnerships, in the last year Dale has led the charge into digital with Life At Anna's Zoo, as well as spearheading our cinematic releases. She has seen her third major series in China commissioned (Yellow River Adventures with Ash Dykes - Insight), built a new archive relationship in natural history with Off The Fence and John Downer Productions and has over seen One Tribe’s first co-production company partnership with Canadian Hemming House (The Berg - CBC Nature of Things). She also drives the companies PR initiative.

Dale continues to Executive Produce many of the natural history, history and documentary productions for One Tribe.

While Dale was building One Tribe she was also freelancing as an Executive Producer, Series Producer and Director for some of the biggest and best known Indie’s in London including Nutopia, Fremantle, Betty, Dragonfly, Zig Zag and Spark Media, making series for ITV, Channel4, Channel 5, BBC and Netflix. She worked with Bear Grylls for two-years during this time. Before starting One Tribe she worked at the BBC in current affairs, foreign affairs, BBC Science, Factual and Documentaries before finally spending nearly a decade at the BBC Natural History Unit. Here Dale series produced the multi-BAFTA/Emmy award winning landmark series Human Planet (8x60).

Dale prides herself in still being a “hands-on” producer and director who is able to translate complex subjects into entertaining and informative content for mass audiences around the world. She has filmed and worked in more than 60 countries.

Dale was the individual recipient of the 2011 Royal Geographical Society’s Cherry Kearton Medal and Award for Natural History Photography and Cinematography. Dale also works as a film judge and guest university lecturer, as well as being an established professional public speaker working for American and British companies. She is also a member of BAFTA, RTS, Directors UK and PACT.
