One Tribe is delighted to announce our brand new documentary commission - Ash Dykes’ Yellow River Adventure! This co-production with Chinese partners CICC is commissioned by Insight TV and CMG in China. This new 3-part series will follow extreme athlete and record-breaking adventurer Ash Dykes as he travels source to sea in China on a 3,400-mile expedition along the full length of the iconic Yellow River.
Renowned for both its beauty and drama, the Yellow River is one of the most important waterways in human history, often described as the 'Mother River of China'. The series will see the young Welshman, Ash travel from the river’s remote source in the high-altitude glaciers of the Qinghai–Tibetan Plateau, to its mouth at the Bohai Sea, as he undertakes a high-octane adventure across land, air and water.
Ash Dykes has said: "For me, this is more than an expedition. It’s a chance to tell the story of the Yellow River’s past, present, and future through the lens of adventure, survival, and human connection. It’s the biggest and most ambitious project of my career so far."
This bold international project is One Tribe’s second significant factual documentary partnership with Chinese producers following our recent series 'In the Footsteps of Marco Polo.'
Executive Producer and One Tribe MD Dale Templar said : “We are always thrilled to work in China , especially on these projects where you get to go to places few people ever get to see . And this time we are so happy to be working with Ash.”
For Ash these builds on his earlier expeditions across China, including his world-first trek along the full length of the Yangtze River.
Coming in 2026 on Insight TV and CCTV the series will be distributed globally .
