Our new daytime show Shift the Thrift, co-commissioned by BBC Daytime and BBC Cymru Wales has officially started filming!
Hosted by Gavin and Stacey star Joanna Page, this 12x30 series will see two contestants go head to head in a race against the clock to turn their charity shop purchases into as much profit as possible.
Contestants compete to discover charity shop treasures and upcycle them with the help of renovating experts. Led by resident thrifter Joanna Page, each episode ends in an energetic live-streamed auction. The contestant who makes the most profit wins and all earnings are donated to their chosen charity.
Each episode kicks off in a new UK town, where the contestants, joined by Joanna and a pair of guest experts, hit the charity shops in search of hidden gems. The teams are introduced to a custom shopping list - including an item to upcycle and a local scavenger hunt challenge. Then it’s time to get creative, with a little help from Britain’s most creative social media upcyclers, the contestants give one item a makeover and prep their best sales pitch before partaking in an exciting, fast-paced live stream auction.
Joanna Page comments: “I absolutely love charity shops and have been customising and upcycling clothes for years, so this show is right up my street. It’s fun, fast, and gives people great ideas on how to find value in second-hand treasure - all while supporting brilliant local causes.”
Owen Gay, Executive Producer and Co-Founder of One Tribe, says: “We’ve built a reputation for telling uplifting, people-focused stories across the UK, and this format lets us do that while championing sustainability and local causes. Charity shops are treasure troves full of stories, and we can’t wait for viewers to share in the thrill of the hunt and the buzz of the auction.”
Coming in 2026 to BBC One and iPlayer!
