Tom Cunningham
Executive Producer / Head of Chepstow
Tom first joined One Tribe in 2018 and is now running One Tribe's head office in Chepstow. He is an executive producer, series producer and director - making premium factual, observational documentary and specialist factual programming for UK and international broadcasters including: the BBC, Channel 4, Netflix, Sky History, Discovery, Channel 5 and SBS Australia. He has developed and successfully pitched original formats, including most recently our new BBC1 daytime format series Shift The Thrift, presented by Joanna Page.
Across his career, Tom has worked across a broad range of genres including different forms of documentary, history, travel, sport, factual and factual entertainment. He’s used to working on complex productions in demanding environments - from remote locations in Canada and China, to embedded access filming with police forces, the British Army and major sporting institutions.
As a series producer and executive producer, Tom combines strong editorial judgement with a distinctive visual style. He has developed a reputation for creating glossy, cinematic programming on challenging budgets, using innovative filming techniques and technology including drone cinematography, bespoke shooting rigs and high-end gimbal work. He continues to direct and self-shoot, bringing creative leadership from development through to final edit.
Tom is Executive Producer for The One Show films and The One Big Thank You (BBC1), Shift the Thrift (BBC1), A Ship Through Time (S4C/Sky History) and Swimming Against the Tide (BBC Wales). As a Series Producer, his work includes Amanda Holden’s Sex: A Bonkers History (Sky History), Emerald Isles (TG4), Stanley Johnson’s In the Footsteps of Marco Polo (CCTV) and the RTS-winning Jonnie’s Blade Camp (Channel 4).
Before joining One Tribe full-time, his directing and producing credits included: Freddie’s First XI (BBC), Sunderland Til I Die (Netflix), 24 Hours in Police Custody (Channel 4), Vegas 24/7 (Channel 5) and numerous specialist factual and observational documentary series for UK and international broadcasters.
