In a world where we’re all trying to make smarter, greener choices, our brand-new daytime format Shift the Thrift celebrates the creativity, resourcefulness, and joy that comes from giving second-hand treasures a new lease of life. But we didn’t just want to make a TV show about sustainability, we wanted to make one that was produced sustainably from the ground up.
At the heart of Shift the Thrift is a simple, exciting challenge: contestants scour local charity shops for overlooked items, transform them through clever upcycling, and then auction them off, all in the name of raising the biggest possible profit for a charity of their choice.
By giving contestants the tools and encouragement to reimagine these pieces, we’re shining a spotlight on just how much potential exists in the things we too often dismiss as 'past their prime'. From lovingly restored furniture to quirky home décor reinventions, the creativity on display is proof that sustainability and style absolutely can go hand in hand.
A Sustainable Production From Day One

From the moment we began developing Shift the Thrift, we knew we wanted our production practices to reflect the ethos of the show itself. Sustainability wasn’t an afterthought, it was the starting point. Here are just a few of the steps we took:
Second-hand first: Whenever possible, production materials, set pieces and props were acquired sustainably either reused, repurposed, or borrowed.
Local charity partnerships: We collaborated with community charity shops across the region, ensuring our filming days supported local causes rather than disrupting them.
Mindful travel: We consolidated filming locations and transport to reduce the production’s carbon footprint wherever we could.
Joanna Page: Leading by Example in Second-Hand Style

Our wonderful presenter, Joanna Page, embraced the ethos of Shift the Thrift with enthusiasm and heart. Throughout the series, she wore outfits made entirely from second-hand clothing. Joanna’s wardrobe became a statement: sustainable fashion doesn’t mean compromising on personality or flair.
We can’t wait to share Shift the Thrift with you. Expect plenty of inventive transformations, uplifting competition, and heartfelt moments as contestants turn forgotten items into fundraising gold, all while championing a more thoughtful way of living.
Sustainability isn’t just a trend. It’s a shift.
And we’re excited to be part of it.
