Michael Lazaris

Veterinarian - Presenter

Michael Lazaris is a vet and a television presenter and expert originally from South Africa.

Born in Cape Town, Michael grew up with his own menagerie of animals, from snakes and chameleons to dogs, cats and parrots. He then moved with his family to Greece for 6 years before heading to the University of Edinburgh, where Michael completed his veterinary and zoology degrees. Michael now works as a small animal vet in London at the RSPCA Putney Animal Hospital, where he helps treat all animals, from British wildlife to stray cats and dogs, some of which have been abused or mistreated.

As an expert and presenter, Michael has worked on TV programmes such as The Dog Rescuers and Jo Brand’s Cats and Kittens for Channel 5. Michael also made an appearance on First Dates Series 7 for Channel 4.

Michael’s passion is volunteering at animal rescue centres around the world. Michael has helped capture giraffe and rhinos in South Africa, treated Asian elephants in Thailand, and helped with neuter clinics in Cariacou and St Lucia. To help raise awareness about pet health, Michael runs a successful Instagram account showcasing his veterinary work.
